Chris H A magnificent, epic, sprawling thing. Ugly and fascinating throughout, with great performances from a huge cast, including some relative unknowns who have gone on to bigger parts in other productions.Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent, although it took me a while to realise his mangled Irish/American accent was deliberate. He didn't even write books, he wrote plays, which is an entirely different format of writing to what most books are considered to be. Some film writers really are bloody useless.
