Have you ever wondered where truck drivers sleep on those long hauls? 🚚💤The most common option for truck drivers to get some rest while out on the road is to sleep in the truck's sleeper cab. These cab interiors are designed to be comfortable, with a bed, curtains, and temperature controls to help drivers rest more efficiently. Drivers will try to find safe and legal places to park overnight, such as truck stops, rest areas, or designated parking lots. However, finding safe parking can be a challenge for many truckers. In fact, a study by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) found that over 50% of truck drivers had trouble finding safe parking spots, causing them to park in unauthorized areas. To help tackle this issue, some truck stops have implemented reservation systems or parking assistance to make it easier for truck drivers to find safe places to park and rest. Additionally, truckers can plan ahead and use mobile apps to find parking spots and other amenities on their route.Overall, getting enough rest is crucial for truck drivers to stay safe on the road. By understanding where they can sleep and how to find safe parking spots, truckers can rest easier and drive with more confidence.

🚏 Have you ever wondered how many miles you have traveled on public transit in a year or what stations you have most frequented? On a newly launched website, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) gives their riders insights into their use of #publictransit last year. 🚍📈 “We know how much value transit brings to the region and the lives of our customers and this new tool will give riders a tangible idea of how much they used Metro in 2023,” said GM/CEO Randy Clarke, who himself ranks in the top 1% of WMATA riders in 2023. 🏆The ridership report also includes statistics on the number of bus and rail trips, most used bus routes and the carbon dioxide emissions riders have saved by relying on transit rather than cars. What would your ridership report look like?https://lnkd.in/eCUWWzfz

Freakonomics had a really great and very balanced discussion about free transit fares a couple of weeks ago. I strongly recommend it.My only critique is that we need to get past the binary of private vehicles vs. public transit as the only options. We should have a full spectrum of shared and public modes - walking, micromobility (private and shared), microtransit, ride-hail, car-sharing, AND public transit to get over the addiction of SOVs.https://lnkd.in/gAsb-tUw

Interesting first presentation here at the Cold Comfort/Traffex exhibition in Coventry, UK. The presenter was explaining how dangerous and difficult it is for a driver to follow a winter maintenance route while also managing the controls for the gritting box. Especially for new and inexperienced drivers this can be a daunting task.Working in hazardous and exposed conditions in the early hours of a harsh winter is not for everyone, and these driving heroes need all the support they can get.The technology is available and proven to automate the gritting function including when to start spreading, the spread width and the amount. Combining the data from RouteSmart Technologies route optimisation software with the control box lessens the burden on the driver ensuring they can concentrate on navigating the route and driving safely.#wintermaintenance #safedriving #gritting

Last week I shared the exciting news that GTFS-flex was officially adopted into the specification - an extension project that ensure riders, no matter where they are, can discover transit options available when they need them. Now that it’s officially adopted into the spec, Flex is no longer considered an extension. Here is what you need to know about how to adopt Flex for your unique use case. As always, MobilityData works to provide better transportation through data. https://lnkd.in/gU_ugv_y
